FAQs
Shipping & Delivery
Yes, we ship all over the world. Shipping costs vary by item and destination and are calculated at checkout. Stickers and a few small tools and accessories ship free. See our Shipping Policy for details.
These are the times before your order ships; transit time is extra. If a product page shows a different lead time, the product page applies.
- HEL Performance products: made to order; ship within 1–2 weeks, depending on demand.
- BagSport Fabrications EFI and turbo parts: stocked in the US; ship from our Charlotte, NC warehouse within 3–5 business days. Pre-order items ship when they arrive in stock.
- Classic Mini DIY parts, tools, stickers, and Garage Sale items: ship from our Charlotte, NC warehouse within 3–5 business days.
- Retro Components UK products: ship from the UK within 2–3 business days.
- Dapper Lighting products: ship directly from Dapper Lighting in the US.
- RTS clutches: hand-assembled in the UK; shipping is billed separately after you order.
- 16v forged pistons: made to order; allow 8–10 weeks, plus 2 weeks for coatings.
- Apparel, prints, and accessories: printed to order; ship within 2–4 business days, depending on location.
- Digital products: available to download after purchase; nothing ships.
To keep costs down, most of our products ship directly from the supplier or maker, from locations in the US and the UK. Your order may arrive in 2 or more boxes, and each shipment is tracked separately. If something seems to be missing, check your tracking for a second package first.
Shipments that cross a border, including items that ship from the UK, may be charged import duties, taxes, or brokerage fees by the destination country. Unless these are collected at checkout, they are the customer's responsibility. BagSport parts ship from our US stock, so US customers pay no import fees on them.
Digital products (base maps, DXF and STL design files, and wiring diagrams) are downloads, so nothing ships. Some design files are for you to print or cut yourself; check the listing for recommended materials and intended use. If you have trouble with a download, email orders@cmdiy.co.
Email orders@cmdiy.co as soon as possible with your order number. Many of our parts are made to order or ship directly from suppliers, so changes are possible only before production or shipping starts.
Email orders@cmdiy.co within 7 days of the delivery date with your order number, photos of the item, the packaging, and the shipping label, and a short description of the problem. If something is missing, first check whether your order shipped in more than one box.
Returns
Yes, in most cases. Email returns@cmdiy.co and we'll take you through the process. Returns are generally accepted within 14 days of the purchase date, with a few exceptions:
- HEL lines are not returnable, except in the event of manufacturing damage.
- Stickers are not returnable.
- Custom leather products are not returnable.
- Custom shift knobs are not returnable unless there is a manufacturing issue or problem.
See our Refund Policy for details.
Parts & Fitment
First check whether your car has single-line or dual-line brakes. One pipe leaving the master cylinder means single line: use the "Early" kits. Two pipes means dual line: use the "Late" kits.
Late kits ask which master cylinder you have: yellow tag (OEM), yellow tag (conversion), or green tag (late servo). Early kits ask whether the car is left- or right-hand drive, and the Complete and Ultimate Early kits also ask whether your subframe towers are 4-bolt or 2-bolt.
The front caliper lines and the front subframe softline kit are for front disc brakes only. If your brake system has been modified, email orders@cmdiy.co before you order.
The Complete Stainless Brake Kit replaces the brake lines: master cylinder line, front subframe lines, front caliper lines, and rear radius arm lines. The Ultimate kit includes all of that plus a long clutch line that replaces the original two-piece clutch setup.
The Clutch Braided Line Conversion Kit is a long-style line for Verto or pre-Verto clutches, in left- or right-hand-drive versions. The OEM "Short" Clutch Line Replacement replaces only the OEM flex line on right-hand-drive Minis.
It depends on the thread sizes on your block and oil filter head. Engines before 1992 usually have a 5/8" UNF block union and a 1/4" NPT filter head. Engines from 1992 on (12A) use 11/16" UNF at both. Some pre-1992 cars have an 11/16" filter adapter, so check yours before you order. Our HEL oil fittings convert to -8 AN.
No. Braided rubber hose works only with AN swivel braided rubber hose ends, and PTFE-lined hose works only with PTFE hose ends. In our store, the "AN" fittings are for braided rubber hose and the "PTFE" fittings are for PTFE hose.
Check the product listing. The OE7 headlights are listed as polarity reversible. For other LED and electrical parts, if the listing doesn't mention positive earth, email orders@cmdiy.co before you order.
LED indicators draw much less current than standard bulbs, so an original flasher unit often flashes too fast or not at all. Our LED Flasher Relay works with LED bulbs, standard bulbs, or a mix of both.
The OE7 Mk2 headlights are a direct fit for 7-inch round headlights and use a standard H4 plug, so no rewiring is needed. Depending on your Mini's generation, the inner headlight cup may need a small modification; the install video on the product page shows how. The OE7 Mk2 is listed as DOT compliant.
We only state what each listing says. For example, the OE7 Mk2 headlights are listed as DOT compliant, the electric fan conversion shroud is for off-road and track use only, and the BagSport rear-mount turbo kit is sold for off-road, competition, and export use only. Laws differ by location, so check your local rules for road use, emissions, lighting, and engine number plates.
Garage Sale items are used parts. They're sold individually, stock is limited, and their condition is as described on the listing.
EFI, Tuning & Builds
No. Classic Mini DIY no longer makes its own EFI hardware. Our EFI and turbo parts now come from BagSport Fabrications. We are BagSport's exclusive distributor for North and South America, we keep their parts in stock in the US, and we ship them from here, so US customers get no surprise import fees. Install guides for our earlier EFI kits stay on the Downloads page for existing owners.
No. Our base maps are a starting point to get the engine running, not a finished tune. You must have the car tuned on a dyno after loading the map, or you can cause serious engine damage.
Choose the map for your ECU (Haltech, Emerald, MegaSquirt, Speeduino, MegaJolt, or DTAFast) and compare your setup with the baseline on the product page; the standard maps were built around a 45mm throttle body. Base maps are digital downloads, and updates are emailed free to all buyers.
These recommendations are for the 45mm EFI throttle body that Classic Mini DIY used to make:
- Denso 280cc: good for small bore engines
- Denso 320cc: best tested for large bore NA engines
- Denso 380cc
- Bosch 440cc: standard for other EFI kits on the market
- Siemens Deka 630cc: good for high boost/high flow engines
- Bosch 630cc: alternative to Siemens injectors
For injector advice on a BagSport throttle body, email orders@cmdiy.co.
Yes. We rebuild all three A-series gearbox types (magic wand, remote change, and rod change), from standard rebuilds to fast road, race, and boosted builds. Email orders@cmdiy.co for a quote with your gearbox type and what you want from the build.
Our 16v forged pistons are made to order, with a lead time of about 8 to 10 weeks, plus 2 weeks if coatings are added. Custom bore and dish sizes are available; email orders@cmdiy.co with your engine spec.
Help & Contact
Email orders@cmdiy.co. Classic Mini DIY is a small, owner-run business, and a real person replies as soon as they can. To get an answer in one reply, include your order number (if you have one) and your car's details: year, model, engine, carb or injection (SPI/MPI), and left- or right-hand drive.
Our support covers our products: fitment, what's included, installation, and orders. We can't diagnose or tune cars over chat or email. For free technical help, use the tools at classicminidiy.com/technical (torque specs, chassis and engine number decoders, carb needle configurator, gearbox and compression ratio calculators, common clearances, and parts equivalency), the CMDIY Assistant at classicminidiy.com/chat, and the Classic Mini DIY YouTube channel.
Use the free Chassis Number Decoder and Engine Number Decoder at classicminidiy.com/technical. Many Minis have had engines, gearboxes, brakes, or subframes swapped over the years, so check what's fitted to the car now, not just the model year. A photo of the part often answers it.
Check the product page first; many include install notes or a video. Install guides, wiring diagrams, and videos are also on our Downloads page.

About HEL Lines
The difference between winning and losing is a very fine line...
On every mile of every race track, the importance of high-performance precision braking control has been proven. Total feel and response give you the confidence you need on the road. The difference between an average driver and a great driver is those who can control speed and those who cannot. Speed is nothing without control, and it's a very fine line - Which is why HEL Performance only supplies very fine lines.
Each HEL Performance brake line kit is assembled in-house from the finest quality stainless steel fittings swaged directly to hard drawn tensile stainless steel braided hose.
With our extensive automotive listings, the complete kit will be manufactured to exact specifications, guaranteeing the look, the quality, and the performance you demand.
HEL Brake line kits eliminate that 'spongy' feeling often found with rubber hoses under extreme braking conditions - the time when performance is needed the most. By replacing the original rubber hoses with our complete system you will remove this sponginess, and your braking will deliver new levels of precision.
Don't risk using inferior brake lines when you can trust us to improve braking reliability and performance - We use stainless steel in our lines and our fittings. Most competitors use zinc plated fittings which are at risk of corrosion.
